Shah Mokhdum thana was established on 1 July 1992 taking parts from Boalia Thana and Paba upazila. It has only metropolitan police administration. About 50% area of the thana belongs to the urban area and rest to rural area. It consists of 25 mouzas and 2 wards. Of the mouzas 23 belonged to Paba upazila and 2 to boalia upazila.
